PCORI Function, Building Industry Alliances with Advocate Leaders Among Hot Topics

The 3rd Annual Strengthening Patient Advocacy Relations Across the Life Sciences Conference was held June 12-13 in at the Sheraton Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia, bringing together patient advocacy leaders for two days of in-depth discussion on the outlook and best practices of the industry.

Attendees took part in several networking opportunities, roundtables and interactive discussions surrounding the biggest issues within the patient advocacy space, including partnering with PCORI to access real world patient data and outcomes, improving access to care, payment and affordability of healthcare, and launching new treatment.  By popular request, all of the sessions during this year’s conference were cast study driven, and participants heard case studies from a variety of companies such as Celgene, Genentech, and Fresenius Medical Care.

New to this year’s program was a more diversified lineup of speakers from industries such as medical device, big pharma, policy, and advocacy.  This year, more than two dozen speakers led sessions and panel discussions, including Gil Basche of Makovsky, Amy Fisher of Shire HGT, Greg Martin of PCORI, and Robert Popovian of Pfizer Inc.

The conference was sponsored by Health Perspectives Group, JPA Health Communications, Makovsky, Cullari Communications Global, and Edelman.
