Evidence Based Medicine in Pharmaceuticals
Evidence Based medicine is defined as the utilization of evidence to improve medical practice by assessing risks and benefits of treatments. As therapy prices continue to rise, the need for health economic, outcomes, and quality of life data will increasingly play a role in payer and government decisions on coverage. Pharmaceutical companies need to be able to develop and provide products that deliver better patient outcomes and that are valued by payers and providers. In order to do this, they must use one of the several methods to determine the economic value of their products. This audio conference will cover:
- What is evidence based medicine and how does it impact clinical practices?
- Various methods used by pharmaceutical companies to determine the economic value of their therapies
- Clinical studies to assess QOL
- Patient registry
- Retrospective study
- Clinical studies to assess QOL
- What is the future for evidence-based medicine in the pharmaceutical industry?
